LVSA Recreational Class Descriptions



Parent Participation Classes


Mom/Dad & Me (Walking to 24 months) – 45 minutes

Children and parents explore basic motor skill and social development in a more structured environment.  Children will be introduced to body positions and basic tumbling skills, encouraged to enhance jumping and climbing skills, and provided with the building blocks to enhance strength and general coordination.


Gym Tots (25 to 36 months) – 45 minutes

Basic motor skill and social development are emphasized in this parent/child’s class.  The children will be challenged with age-appropriate activities in all Olympic events. The educational games will encourage the children to learn and enhance the pre-academic skills they will need later in school.  Come and enjoy 45 minutes full of fun!




Pre-School Classes


Mini Gym (3 to 4 years old) – 50 minutes

Look!  I am on my own!  This class emphasizes pre-academic skills such as listening, following directions, and participation skills.  The children are also introduced to basic gymnastic shapes, terminology, and beginner skills to further enhance body awareness and coordination through the use of all Olympic events.


Kindergym  (4 to 5 years old) – 55 minutes

This class builds on the basics necessary for gymnastics, incorporating strength conditioning and flexibility.  The children will be introduced to age-appropriate skills and emphasized on pre-academic and participation skills in preparation for preschool/kindergarten.


Kinderstar Girls ( 5 to 6 years old) – 55 minutes    

Kinderstar Elite (5 to 6 years old) – 85 minutes   

This is a beginner class for girls who have never done gymnastics before, or former Kindergym students who are trying to master beginner skills such as a pullover on bars or cartwheels.  The instructor will continue to emphasize positions, shapes, strength, flexibility, and conditioning.  You can attend a 55 minutes or 85 minutes class.




Girls Classes

Girls Level 1 (Ages 7 and up) - 55 minutes  
Girls Level 2 (Ages 7 and up) - 55 minutes  
Girls Level 3/Level 4 (Ages 7 and up) - 85 minutes   


Advanced Gymnastics Class - Girls (Ages 7 and up) - 1x or 2x a week, your option!

These levels are based on progression as they work on beam, floor, vault, uneven bars, and trampoline. Each level consists of elements that need to be successfully mastered before progressing to the next level. 



                                                                            

Boys Classes


What can gymnastics do for your son?  Create an all around better athlete, no matter what sport he decides to pursue.  Gymnastics is instrumental in fostering better hand/eye coordination, agility, strength, flexibility, and spatial awareness.  It also teaches perseverance, determination, motivation, persistence, and discipline.  Start today to enhance the athlete in your son!


KinderStar Boys   (4 to 6 years old) – 55 minutes

For the boys who need to run, jump, swing, and learn to use that wonderful energy constructively!  Students will be introduced to the men’s equipment such as pommel horse, still rings, parallel bars, and horizontal bar, as well as the basics for tumbling and trampoline.  Pre-academic skills such as listening, following directions, and participation skills will also be emphasized.    


Boys Academy Club 1 (Ages 7 to 9) - 55 minutes

Boys Academy Club 2 (Ages 10 to 14) - 55 minutes 

These levels will work on progression as they work on the men's events and trampoline. Each level consists of elements that need to be successfully mastered before progressing to the next level. If you are unsure of your child's level, an instructor will be able to evaluate your child and place him in the appropriate level.


Boys Developmental I and II


Our Boys Developmental class offers our more advanced boys class members the opportunities to hone the skills needed to join our Level 4 Team. This class is by invitation only. Invitations are given out to individuals in our class program that show an advanced level of gymnastics ability. This class is the “jump start” program for joining the Level 4 Team.




 

Tumble Classes


Mini Tumble- These classes are designed around the young cheerleader ages 5-8.  If your child is between these ages and does not have a back handspring, this is the class that he/she belongs in. This class will focus on mastering basic tumbling skills such as cartwheels, round-offs and basic skills needed for a back handspring.  Your cheerleader will also start working on the back handspring if ready.   If your child already has a back handspring on their own they can enroll in a regular Level 2 or 3 class regardless of their age.   *No prerequisite needed for this class.

Tumble Level 1 – This class is designed for cheerleaders ages 9 and up.  This class will focus on mastering basic tumbling skills such as cartwheels, round-offs and basic skills needed for a back handspring.  Your cheerleader will also start working on the back handspring if ready.

*No prerequisite needed for this class.


Tumble Level 2/3 & Open Tumbling – This class is designed for cheerleaders regardless of age that have already mastered the back handspring on the floor and begin to work the round off back handspring and back tucks, both standing and running.

*Must have a standing back handspring on the trampoline or wedge without assistance


Tumble Level 4/5– This class is for students who have mastered the round off back tuck or the round off handspring tuck.  This class will focus on layouts as well as advanced standing tumbling and full twisting layouts.  

* Must have a round off tuck or round off handspring tuck and at least a standing back handspring without assistance.

A class for the child still in all of us. Take a class with one of our instructors just for those who would like to try gymnastics or to see if you can still can.
